Blockchain in Telecom: Real-World Use Cases

Telecom networks already provide highly reliable communication infrastructure, but many surrounding systems still depend on centralized trust, provider-owned data, and fragmented coordination between operators, users, and services.

In this talk, I will present several practical examples of how blockchain can support telecom services without replacing the telecom network itself. The presentation will cover use cases such as user-owned identity, proof of entitlement, decentralized discovery, provider-neutral subscriptions, and mobile number portability.

The key message is that blockchain should be treated as a trust layer, not as a transport layer. It is not intended for real-time media, voice packets, push delivery itself, or large private data. Instead, it can help when multiple providers need shared state, users should control identity, entitlement must be verifiable, or no single provider should fully own the system.
